Long, long, ago there was one national brand of salsa. Its problem was not that it was made in New York City. Its problem was that it tasted like it was designed in Yukon Territory by a person who had never tasted a ripe tomato. I'm acquainted with three Arriba salsas (Medium Green, Chipotle, and Fire Roasted Medium), each of which is a favorite of its type; and that ripe tomato/tomatillo taste is prominent. There are artisanal brands that some will find to be better for one purpose or another; but this is the place to start tasting for comparison. I have been buying Arriba by the case from Amazon for over three years and am delighted to get really good salsa shipped in truly robust packaging. Be careful to avoid the vendors at Amazon who will sell you one jar for the price of two, three, or six.
