EL YUCATECO SAUCE HABANERO XTRA HOT, 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 4)

This is a great hot sauce, definitely in my top 3-4 favorites. Habanero pepper is the first ingredient, and you can really tell, because the sauce has a strong, vibrant taste of smoky habanero. It lacks the vinegary taste that wrecks so many otherwise good hot sauces. I like the color; I'm a huge fan of brownish/greenish hot sauces, as opposed to red Tabasco-looking products or bright green ones.The heat level is PERFECT for me. The web site says 12,000 scovilles, which puts it in the "hot but not insanely hot" category. It's hotter than my other favorite hot sauce, Belizean Heat (6,000). The heat level might be a bit excessive for people who aren't used to real hot sauces. For comparison purposes, the various Tabasco sauces are 1,000 - 4,500, except the Tabasco habanero, which is about 6,000. So with this one, you're starting to get into a heat level that's aimed at experienced hot sauce lovers, but it's at an entry-level of heat for that cohort. For me, it's the perfect heat level; you feel the burn, but it doesn't dominate or ruin the food. With most of the super-high scoville hot sauces, you can only really put a couple of small drops on/into the food; with this stuff, you can slather it all over a tostada at will and benefit from the delicious strong smoky habanero taste.Absolutely stunning on eggs/breakfast food, nachos/chips, and of course, all forms of Mexican food. Great flavor compatibility with any chicken dish.
